Q: Can I ship to multiple addresses?

Q: Is all the product made in Scotland?

A: Yes

Q: What is the shelf life?

A:  The shelf life by category for our products is as follows:

  • Shortbread, Scottish Cookies, Meringues:  18 months
  • Oatcakes, Chocolate Coated Shortbread, Cakes:  15 months
  • Catering / Portion Packs:  12 months
  • Mincemeat Tarts: 9 months
  • Ecclefechan Tarts:  6 months
  • Puddings:  2 years

After that the product is not harmful but starts to become stale.

Q: Can I freeze your shortbread?

A: Yes but the shortbread:

  • Should be fresh or nearly so before it is subjected to the freezing process.
  • Should be frozen quickly and stored in appropriate packaging (e.g. a freezer bag).
  • Storage for very long periods is not to be recommended since the product contains fat (i.e. butter) which can deteriorate (onset of rancidity) even at cold store temperatures.
  • Warm the Shortbread in the oven (when it's unfrozen) so that it tastes just like fresh from the bakery (not chocolate).

Q: Why is there a nut allergy phrase?

A: The nut allergy phrase is printed on the pack as a precaution. Some nut free shortbreads are baked on the same production lines as shortbread containing nuts and despite cleaning & safety there is still a rare possibility that nut fragments could enter the product. However, we do not use peanuts or their derivatives in any of our products (which is a major contributor to allergic reactions).

Q: What is Sodium Diphosphate?

A: Sodium Diphosphate is a raising agent and is present in baking powder. It is also known as Acid Sodium Pyrophosphate.

Q: What is wheat flour?

A: We use wheat flour that has been milled in the normal way, to give white flour. Whole wheat flour (with bran etc. left in) gives a product with very dark color and somewhat unusual flavor.

Q: Do your products contain trans fats?

A: Walkers shortbread, cookies and oatcakes contain virtually no trans fats (trans fatty acids). However, low levels of trans fats naturally occur in ruminant animals such as cows and sheep and are passed on in their milk and butter. The trans fat per serving is generally zero for each of our products and is stated on each product’s nutritional statement.

Since authentic, high quality shortbread such as ours is made with real butter, it has these naturally occurring trans fats. They are not considered harmful as those formed during artificial hydrogenation and Walkers products do not contain any hydrogenated vegetable oils.

Q: Does the butter in your shortbread contain growth hormones or antibiotics?

A: No

Q: Are Walkers products Kosher?

A: All products are Kosher OUD except Mincemeat Tarts, Plum Puddings and Cakes.
