  • Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations


    At high water on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 a thousand boats will muster on the river Thames in preparation for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to lead the Diamond Jubilee Royal River Pageant. It will be the largest flotilla to be assembled on the river for 350 years. This is sure to be, along with the Summer Olympics held in London this year, a highlight of 2012.

  • New York Tartan Week
    The US Congress designated April 6th as national "Tartan Day" to celebrate contributions Scottish-Americans made to the United States.  April 6th is the anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath (1320), one of the first documents in the world to declare a right to freedom.

    The 14th Annual Tartan Day Parade will take place in New York City on Saturday, April 14th.  This year is the 10th Anniversary of the Parade being held on Sixth Avenue.  Marchers begin to line up at 1 pm and the parade steps off at 2 pm.  The complete parade takes about 45 minutes to pass.

    Save the date to join pipers, drummers, members of the Scottish Clans and Organizations as well as a Brigade of wee Scottish and West Highland Terriers in celebrating.

    Carla Hall was a finalist and fan favorite on Top Chef.  These days she plays cohost on ABC's food talk show, The Host.

    In March's issue of HGTV Magazine, she recommends Walkers Shortbread as an ideal snack for pop-in guests.  "If I don't have time to bake, these are my go-to cookies.  Sub them for vanilla wafers in banana pudding.  Yum!"
