Flora MacDonald and Bonnie Prince Charlie (Assorted Shortbread)

This gift tin is adorned with the famous painting by S Joy depicting one of the most poignant farewells in Scottish history, between Prince Charles Edward Stuart and Flora MacDonald. After his defeat at Culloden in 1746, Bonnie Prince Charlie's hopes of regaining the British crown were dashed. This painting records his departure from Scotland into exile after Flora MacDonald had made good his escape by disguising him as her maid.
